Mark Isaacs trio

In March we heard James Hauptmann in The Translators, and Jono Brown with their surprise support act Matt McMahon. This month they will join pianist and composer Mark Isaacs, who is currently touring his ARIA-nominated album Resurgence.

Mark says
“A few days before this eight o’clock sharp gig I will be playing a concert with this warm and brilliant rhythm section of Jono Brown and James Hauptmann doing a large-scale composed piece of mine with classical ensemble. In the wake of that, we will stretch our jazz wings like crazy tonight on some great tunes in what I hear is a terrific venue - I can’t wait!”

Isaacs, with every release, has refined his systematic approach to post-modernity jazz to the point that his sound defines what jazz should sound like at the advent of the 21st Century ...
Like Jarrett at his best, what makes this set stand out from the plethora of piano trios covering the same material is the way that Isaacs re-imagines the tunes . . .bristling with fresh ideas and razor sharp vision, Mark Isaacs has talent to burn
